The Douglas, Massachusetts, community is mourning the unexpected passing of Mark C. Correia, who died on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 58. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who knew him heartbroken as they remember a man whose kindness, generosity, and love for others defined every aspect of his life.
Born on September 25, 1967, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Mark was the beloved son of Richard and Mary (Taraskieviwcz) Correia of Shrewsbury. Throughout his life, he embraced every opportunity to connect with people, finding genuine joy in meeting new friends, listening to their stories, and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
Above all else, Mark’s greatest pride was his daughter, Erin Grace Correia, who was the center of his world. Family members describe him as a devoted father whose guidance, strength, and unconditional love shaped every chapter of Erin’s life. Following the loss of her mother in 2018, Mark and Erin leaned on one another, sharing grief, healing, and an unbreakable bond that grew stronger with each passing year.
Mark also found love again with his beloved partner, Nicole Hamel, with whom he shared a joyful chapter filled with travel, laughter, friendship, and new adventures. Together they explored new places while building a relationship grounded in kindness, companionship, and unwavering support.
Professionally, Mark dedicated 32 years to National Grid, where he built a distinguished career in customer metering services, quality assurance, quality control, and employee and labor relations before becoming Manager of Gas and Electric Customer Metering Services. He was admired by colleagues for his leadership, professionalism, and genuine care for those around him. Mark looked forward to retiring in the coming years so he could spend even more time traveling with Nicole.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Cynthia (Danahey) Correia. He is survived by his daughter Erin; his partner Nicole; his parents; siblings Brian Correia, Lynn Lagace, and Wayne Correia; along with nieces, extended family members, countless friends, and coworkers.
