With heavy hearts, family, friends, and members of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, community are mourning the loss of 40-year-old Elizabeth Ready, who was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Old Hammond Highway Monday night.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office, Ready was identified as the woman involved in the fatal crash near the intersection of Old Hammond Highway and Manson Drive.

Authorities with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said Ready was traveling with two other people when she unexpectedly fell into the roadway and was struck by an approaching vehicle. Officials said the driver attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.

Ready was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries. Deputies said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. They also stated that speed and impairment are not believed to have contributed to the crash.

As the investigation continues, loved ones are remembering Elizabeth Ready and the life she shared with those around her. Her passing has left family, friends, and the community with deep sorrow.

May Elizabeth’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her, and may she rest in peace.
