Dean Battaglino, 33, of New Haven, Connecticut, tragically lost his life after being found with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of Idea Plaza at 172 North Street in Seymour early Wednesday morning. His sudden death has brought profound sadness to his family, friends and everyone who knew and cared for him.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on August 26, Seymour police received a 911 call reporting that a man was dead in the parking lot. Officers arrived and found Dean suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS personnel responded and sadly pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Dean was only 33 years old, with what should have been many more years ahead of him. More birthdays, family gatherings, conversations, laughter and unforgettable moments were supposed to be part of his future. Instead, his loved ones are now left grieving a loss that happened far too suddenly.

For those who knew Dean, his life cannot be defined by the tragic circumstances surrounding his death. He was a loved one, a friend and a person who had a meaningful place in the lives of others. His passing leaves behind memories that will now be treasured more deeply.

Seymour Police Chief John Bucherati said investigators are following several leads, conducting interviews and seeking search warrants as they work to determine what happened. The investigation remains active, and authorities have not released information about potential witnesses or surveillance footage.

A maroon Nissan Sentra, believed to have belonged to Dean, remained at the scene while investigators continued processing evidence. Detectives from the Seymour Police Department, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad and inspectors from the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office were involved in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Seymour Police Department Detective Bureau at 203-881-7638. Callers may remain confidential.

As investigators continue searching for answers, Dean’s loved ones are left holding onto the memories they shared with him. His absence will be felt in countless ways, but the moments he gave to those around him will never disappear.

Dean Battaglino’s life was taken far too soon, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rest peacefully, Dean.

Gone too soon, remembered forever.
