LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Paul Travis Markert, 50, of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on Sunday, August 9, 2026. His death has left his wife, children, parents, sister, extended family, and friends mourning the loss of someone deeply important to their lives.
Born August 15, 1975, Paul was the son of Gary R. and Estella (Raemsch) Markert, who survive in Jersey Shore. He graduated from Bucktail High School in 1993 before beginning four years of service in the United States Air Force. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1997.
On May 10, 2005, Paul married his best friend, the former Leah N. Mccutcheon. Together, they shared 21 years of marriage. Paul worked in Information Technology at Lock Haven University, building a professional life in the community. Away from work, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, shooting sports, watching movies, and refurbishing woodstoves.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Markert of Mill Hall; his parents, Gary and Estella Markert of Jersey Shore; his children, Gunner (Ashly) Vuocolo of North Carolina and Erin Markert of Mill Hall; and his sister, Becky (Mike) Tolomay of Mill Hall.
A private memorial service will be held for close family and friends. The gathering will provide an opportunity for those closest to Paul to remember his life and support one another during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745, to help offset funeral costs.
Paul’s life was marked by his military service, dedication to his family, professional work, and the interests he enjoyed throughout his years. His passing leaves a lasting absence for those who knew him.
As family and friends mourn in the Lock Haven area and beyond, they will carry forward the memories of the life Paul shared with them. His wife, children, parents, sister, and loved ones remain in the thoughts of all who knew him.
