MAPLE RIDGE – A 56-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot near a home on 236 Street in Maple Ridge Tuesday night. Maple Ridge RCMP frontline officers were dispatched to the 11400 block of 236 Street at approximately 10 p.m. for a report of shots fired in that vicinity.
Officers at the scene located a 56-year-old male victim inside a vehicle outside a residence suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Maple Ridge RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken control of the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) is currently processing the scene. The investigation is still in its very early stages. Officers are continuing to gather evidence and determine exact circumstances, including taking statements and canvassing the area for video surveillance and potential witnesses.
Police say no further information will be released at this time.
